Create your own vintage!

For 40 years, la Maison Lavau, located at the foot of the “Dentelles de Montmirail” chain of mountains in Provence, has been turning to wine most of the appellations of southern Rhone valley.  This year, a new workshop has been added to their list of existing tasting workshops: how to blend and create your ideal wine.

Blending workshop: personalize your wine at Lavau’s (Vaucluse, Provence-Alpes-Côtes d’Azur)

The workshop lasts two hours and is entirely personalized. It is available to individuals and small groups, from 2 to 6 people, though each person works on his own wine. It starts with a visit of the cellars where the different stages of the wine making process are presented. This clearly explains where the assemblage takes place and the reasons behind such a technique.

Once in the laboratory, every participant, clad in a white smock, will use tasting glasses and test tubes to create their ideal wine with the typical grape varieties of the southern Rhône valley. Everyone has a working space, plus 3 vintages available: one of the Grenache variety, one Syrah and one of a wine aged in an oak barrel.

The first step is to taste each vintage separately, to appreciate its main characteristics and its part in the assemblage.  After the tasting, the participants are ready to make their own blend, with the help of an assemblage card.

To top all this off: everyone will bottle, cork, label and take home his own bottle of vintage wine!

Important: this workshop is open to everyone, from beginners to experts.  It’s available all year and costs 30 euros per person.
