400th anniversary of Quebec City - Celebrate your roots with SAQ and Wines of France!

Last December, during the kick off of the festivities surrounding the 400th anniversary of Quebec City, SAQ and Wines of France announced their partnership. With a common signature – Celebrating our roots - Wines of France and SAQ are teaming up to celebrate with Quebecers, the historical and cultural links between Quebec and France.

Proud partners of Quebec 2008, SAQ and Wines of France will offer the opportunity, to all wine amateurs, to rediscover the diversity and passion of both French and Quebec winemakers, thanks to two bistros located at the heart of the celebration.

On June 3rd, the Bistro SAQ / Wines of France was officially opened. This unique area, neighbouring the river, will welcome festival participants with a great selection of wines and a delicate menu. To offer a discovery experience, each month the bistro will feature one specific French wine region. Wine secrets of Burgundy, Alsace, Bordeaux, Côtes du Rhône, and Languedoc-Roussillon will be revealed.
Located on Quai Renaud 2, at the Bassin Louise, the Bistro SAQ / Wines of France is facing the mega projection on the history of Quebec City, The Image Mill, created by Robert Lepage, one of the key animations of the festivities.

Moreover, at Grande Place of the Espace 400e, an Express Bistro SAQ / Wines of France is opened, every day, from noon to 11 p.m., and will feature a variety of French and Quebecer wines. On its mezzanine, a Lounge SAQ / Wines of France is offering a special menu and high-end wines, available by reservation. This lounge is also opened to the public every Wednesday night.

SAQ and Wines of France are also Proud sponsors of the major events of Quebec 2008, especially the commemorative show Rencontres/Encounters. Samuel de Champlain in person, portrayed by Yves Jacques, an actor originally from Quebec City, will recount 400 years of history through ten impressionist and musical tableaux with the participation of great performers from Quebec and the French-speaking world (Diane Dufresne, Robert Charlebois, Lynda Thalie, Ariane Moffat, etc.).

This summer, enjoy the festivities of Quebec 2008 and savour a glass of wine, bite into the heart of celebration-central and celebrate your roots by visiting the Bistro SAQ / Wines of France.
